A

  • ABS: Action Battle System. It's an action oriented RPG where the player stays on the map field and attacks enemies on the map field without transferring to a unique area for battle.
  • ATB: Active Turn Battle. See Active Turn Battle System for more information.

B

  • BGM: Background Music. The music that plays in... you guessed it, the background!

C

  • CBS: Custom Battle System. It's anything that isn't the default battle system (DBS).
  • CMS: Custom Message System or Custom Menu System. Usually the latter.
  • CTB: Charge Turn Battle. See Charge Turn Battle System for more information.

D

  • DBS: Default Battle System. It's the untouched battle system you see in every unaltered RPG Maker project.
  • DTB: Default Turn Battle. See Default Turn Battle System for more information.

H

  • HUD: Heads Up Display. Refers to a graphical interface used to refer information regarding the game towards the player.

M

  • ME: Musical Effect. Examples include fanfares that you hear at the end of battles.

R

  • RTP: Run Time Package. The default resources that come with an RPG Maker project.
  • RMVX: RPG Maker VX. You ought to know what this is.
  • RMXP: RPG Maker XP. You ought to know what this is, too.

S

  • SE: Sound Effect. Sometimes also used as SFX.
  • SFX: Sound Effects. Sometimes SE.

Y

  • YEM: Yanfly Engine Melody. The fourth generation Yanfly Engine scripts. Still being updated.
  • YEP: Yanfly Engine Prototype. The first generation Yanfly Engine scripts. Never been released publicly.
  • YERD: Yanfly Engine ReDux. The second generation Yanfly Engine scripts. Now obsolete.
  • YEZ: Yanfly Engine Zealous. The fourth generation Yanfly Engine scripts. Retired.
