- ABS: Action Battle System. It's an action oriented RPG where the player stays on the map field and attacks enemies on the map field without transferring to a unique area for battle.
- ATB: Active Turn Battle. See Active Turn Battle System for more information.
B
- BGM: Background Music. The music that plays in... you guessed it, the background!
C
- CBS: Custom Battle System. It's anything that isn't the default battle system (DBS).
- CMS: Custom Message System or Custom Menu System. Usually the latter.
- CTB: Charge Turn Battle. See Charge Turn Battle System for more information.
D
- DBS: Default Battle System. It's the untouched battle system you see in every unaltered RPG Maker project.
- DTB: Default Turn Battle. See Default Turn Battle System for more information.

- HUD: Heads Up Display. Refers to a graphical interface used to refer information regarding the game towards the player.

- ME: Musical Effect. Examples include fanfares that you hear at the end of battles.

- RTP: Run Time Package. The default resources that come with an RPG Maker project.
- RMVX: RPG Maker VX. You ought to know what this is.
- RMXP: RPG Maker XP. You ought to know what this is, too.

- SE: Sound Effect. Sometimes also used as SFX.
- SFX: Sound Effects. Sometimes SE.

- YEZ: Yanfly Engine Zealous. The fourth generation Yanfly Engine scripts. Retired.
